Some of the 'extras' who 'helped' us whilst filming at Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA). They are kids from one of East Africa's most notorious slum areas: they come and play football in safe surroundings. For some of those who are going to the East Africa Cup, it's their first time out of Mathare: a lot of them are getting passports (and yellow fever jabs!) for the first time.
We also filmed Mathare United: the Kenyan Premier League team associated with this famous community organisation. Unfortunately they lost: but their captain was articulate and pleasant to interview straight after the game, talking openly about his community and its problems and how sport can change lives. He didn't say he was gutted once.
As we visit teams we are carrying out pop up film workshops and leaving cameras for teams to film their journeys to the East Africa Cup, so the film is a collaborative process which will continue with the film and media skills interviews at the event...
