The old and the new at EAC 2011

Media skills training with the BBC World Service Trust will continue in 2011. Other workshops include health education, leadership skills, Kicking AIDS Out, refereeing, and coaching

There's been a few changes to this year's East Africa Cup.

This year there will be teams from Sudan, Burundi and Zimbabwe getting involved: and both volleyball and sitting volleyball will feature. Sitting volleyball achieved full Paralympic status since 1980 and its inclusion reflects a desire on the part of organisers to connect with the community - which includes people with disabilities.

Remember that the East Africa Cup is not just a football tournament: it exists to celebrate people who use sport in their community throughout the year, it's a cultural event, it's an education event and it's a get-together for friends from around the world.

So although we will be welcoming many new faces and new ideas in 2011, the East Africa Cup remains a celebration of fellowship, learning and fun... plus of course the chance to watch and play football in Moshi, Tanzania in the foothills of Kilimanjaro.

See you there.
